Mineworkers Pension Scheme payment dates depend on how often you are paid: every four weeks as standard, with quarterly or yearly payment for members with smaller pensions.

Mineworkers Pension Scheme payment dates for 2026 and 2027

The Scheme publishes its paydays in three groups: pensions paid every 4 weeks, every 13 weeks and once a year. Unsure whether you are on the four-weekly, 13-weekly or yearly cycle? A free callback from an FCA-authorised adviser, arranged with this page's form, gives you time to ask about your pension.

How is the Mineworkers Pension Scheme paid, and is it paid in arrears?

The Scheme says its pensions are "normally payable every four weeks, two weeks in advance and two weeks in arrears". So a four-weekly payment covers a fortnight still to come and a fortnight just gone. For members with smaller pensions, payment is made quarterly or annually, in arrears.

The money goes by direct credit into a UK bank or building society account. Cheque and girocheque payments are no longer available. A member living abroad can be paid into an overseas account, although there may be extra bank charges, and the Scheme offers quarterly or annual payment for people overseas to cut those costs.

Payslips are not normally issued unless the amount of pension changes by more than £10.00 per month, and a payslip is normally issued after the autumn pension review. Each year a combined P60 and payslip is posted to your home before the end of April.

How do you change bank details for a Mineworkers pension?

The Scheme's Update your details page has a form to change your bank details and another to change your address. It says that keeping details up to date helps ensure your pension is paid on time. To change your name or marital status, ring the Scheme administrator on 0333 222 0077.

Be wary of anyone else asking for bank details. The Scheme says it will never call you unexpectedly or pressure you into a quick decision, and that it typically writes first. If someone claiming to be from the Scheme asks for your bank details, put the phone down and call the Scheme on the number above. The FCA's guidance on pension scams covers the wider picture.

Who to contact about a missing or late payment

The Scheme's administrators can be reached on 0333 222 0077 or at mps@brightwellpensions.com, or by post at Mineworkers' Pension Scheme, Sunderland, SR43 4LE. The Scheme says its administrators cannot help with tax enquiries, and its contact page points to a separate tax page. If you have an ongoing disagreement with the Scheme, it has a page on resolving a dispute. Have the date you expected the money to hand when you call.

Mineworkers pension payment questions

What is the next Mineworkers pension payday?

For four-weekly pensions the next dates are 30 October, 27 November and 23 December. Thirteen-weekly and yearly pensions have no further payday this year; the next are in 2027, on 15 January and 15 October respectively.

Does the Scheme pay on the same date every month?

No. Four-weekly pensions are paid every fourth week, so the day of the month moves from one payment to the next; the table above shows the dates.

How can I check how much my Mineworkers pension payment should be?

Look at the pension increase letter the Scheme sends every year, which it says explains the different parts of your pension and how much the increase is. A payslip is normally issued after the autumn pension review, and at other times only if your pension changes by more than £10.00 a month. Every pensioner also gets a combined P60 and payslip by post before the end of April.

In which part of the year does the yearly rise reach my payments?

The autumn, according to the Scheme. How much it is, and any bonus, is covered in the page on increases.

What if my payment arrives on a different day from the one listed?

The Scheme publishes its paydays in advance, so if the money has not arrived on the listed date, ring the administrators on 0333 222 0077 rather than waiting.

Can someone help me manage my pension payments?

The Scheme has a page on getting someone to help manage your pension, and a section on setting up power of attorney. Contact the administrators first, and be wary of anyone else who offers to take over your payments.

Paydays are one small part of your retirement income. Setting this pension beside your State Pension and any savings can be done by an FCA-authorised adviser, and this enquiry form books the callback.
