Is PensionBee good? It is an FCA-authorised online provider that merges old pensions into one plan; whether it suits you depends on what yours hold.
Asking if PensionBee is any good is really asking whether it fits your own pensions. The PensionBee details below are as it published them on 26 October 2026. What settles it is what you hold. Submit the form on this page and a qualified, FCA-authorised adviser will ring to discuss yours. PensionBee's charges are covered in PensionBee fees and its plans in which PensionBee plan is best.
Is PensionBee good at bringing old pensions together?
Combining old pensions sits at the centre of PensionBee's service, as it describes it. It says: "We start by transferring your old pensions and investing them into one new easy-to-manage online plan." On sign-up you are placed, it says, in "one of our two default pension plans based on your age, but you can switch plans anytime". Your account is online and in an app, with a personal account manager it calls a BeeKeeper.
You need not move everything. PensionBee's FAQ says one inactive pension is enough to start, and a workplace pension still receiving contributions can be added to your online account and transferred once payments stop.
For taking money out, PensionBee says: "Once you reach 55 (57 from 2028) you can make one-off, or automatic monthly pension withdrawals". One-off payments typically take 7-10 working days. It also offers a regular income through an annuity bought via its partner, Legal & General. How those options work is explained in pension drawdown and pension annuities.
Where to read PensionBee customer reviews
PensionBee's reviews page features a handful of customer comments and points readers to its rating on an outside review site. A score moves over time and featured comments are a selection, so read the full set on the review site itself, low scores included, and note the date you read it.
A rating of this kind reflects how customers found the service. It says nothing on its own about whether a transfer suits your particular old pension, or how a plan's investments will do over many years; PensionBee performance covers that side.
Is PensionBee regulated, and is my money protected?
PensionBee says it is "authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) (FRN: 744931)". Check that entry on the FCA register yourself. The FSCS also points savers to the register to see whether a firm they deal with is covered by FSCS.
PensionBee's FAQ says the personal pension is governed by a trust deed and rules. PensionBee Limited is the scheme's administrator and PensionBee Trustees Limited its trustees.
On compensation, PensionBee says it uses "insured index funds with the highest level of Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) protection should a money manager fail". The FSCS explains that it can generally protect pensions from UK-regulated insurers when they count as long-term insurance contracts, and then covers them at 100% with no upper cap. It cannot confirm how individual plans with specific providers are classed, so you would need to ask the provider directly.
Compensation covers a failed firm, not a fall in value. PensionBee's own pages say: "With investments, your capital is at risk." Values can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you paid in. PensionBee says its information security practices are certified to the ISO 27001 standard. If anyone cold-calls about your pension, the FCA's advice is to hang up; see pension scams.
Where does PensionBee have limits?
These come from PensionBee's own FAQ.
- Cash transfers only. It accepts cash transfers only, so your old investments are sold rather than moved as they are. It says that, on average, "it takes 12 weeks to process and transfer your old pensions". For timings see how long PensionBee takes.
- Guarantees. For safeguarded benefits worth over £30,000, advice is required before transferring. If you are advised against transferring, PensionBee says it will not accept the transfer. If it finds an old provider's exit fee of more than £10, it asks your permission first, though it says it cannot guarantee to spot every exit fee or guarantee.
- Public service schemes. It says the government does not allow transfers of unfunded schemes, "including those of the NHS, teachers, the army, police and firefighters", while the Local Government Pension Scheme is funded and still permitted. Scottish public service schemes are separate schemes, so ask the scheme about its own rules.
- No tracing and no advice. It cannot trace old pensions for you, and "PensionBee doesn't provide financial advice or recommendations."
- Delayed balances. Your balance reflects market changes two to three working days after they have occurred, not in real time.
What to check before moving a pension to PensionBee
Start with each old pension: whether it carries guarantees or exit charges, what it costs now compared with the fees on PensionBee's fees page, and whether your employer still pays into it. How to transfer a pension lists the steps, and Pension Wise offers free guidance. The FCA says that if you are thinking of changing your pension arrangements, "you should get financial guidance or advice beforehand."

PensionBee: the short answers
Is PensionBee government backed?
PensionBee describes itself as regulated by the FCA, which is oversight by a regulator, not a government guarantee of what your pot is worth. Its pages say capital is at risk, and FSCS compensation is for a failed firm.
Can I transfer an NHS pension into PensionBee?
Not if it is an unfunded scheme: PensionBee names the NHS, teachers, army, police and firefighters. The scheme itself can confirm its own transfer rules.
Can PensionBee find my lost pensions?
No. It says "we can't trace your old pensions for you" and that "you'll need to use the government's free Pension Tracing Service".
Is PensionBee a good investment?
It is a pension provider rather than a single investment, so the answer rests on the plan you choose and on how long you hold it. Plan differences are in which PensionBee plan is best.
Should I transfer my pension to PensionBee?
That depends on what the old pension contains and what you want from the new one. Sending the form on this page also gets an adviser to look over what you hold, and PensionBee against other providers covers rivals. For typical costs everywhere, see pension charges and fees.
