Quilter pension performance depends on the funds held inside the account, so check each fund's dated factsheet rather than looking for one Quilter figure.

Quilter's personal pension, the Collective Retirement Account (CRA), does not have a single return. Your result follows the funds you or your adviser choose, less what the account and those funds cost. Curious how the funds in your Quilter pot have done? Using the form on this page sets a free ring-back in motion, and whoever phones is an FCA-authorised adviser able to go through the fund list.

Where does Quilter publish pension fund performance?

Quilter's platform funds page points to a Fund Centre, which it says carries "prices, fund performance, factsheets and fund manager documents" for its Wealth fund ranges. The same page links a list of all the funds with their fund charges. Each fund's factsheet is the document to open, because it prints its own date and the periods it covers.

The factsheet for the WealthSelect Managed Active 8 portfolio shows what to expect. It is dated 30 September 2026, gives cumulative growth since the portfolio's launch on 24 February 2014, and sets a performance summary beside a named comparator. It says the figures are "total return, percentage growth, net of fees over periods shown". Beside them it lists a weighted fund charge for the funds in the portfolio and a separate MPS charge, which it describes as Quilter's yearly charge for running the portfolio. The charges on your own account also affect what your pot is worth.

Searches for a Quilter pension performance PDF, graph or a particular year such as 2023 lead to the same place: an older factsheet shows only the dates it printed, and the current one shows today's. Your latest CRA statement is the record of what your own pot is worth.

What drives how a Quilter pension performs?

Fund choice comes first. Quilter's key features list more than 3,000 unit trusts and open-ended investment companies from more than 180 fund groups, and more than 800 exchange traded funds, exchange traded commodities and investment trusts on top. A pension holding a cautious fund and one holding a global shares fund will not have the same record, though both are "Quilter pensions".

Charges come second. Quilter says your personalised Key Features Illustration shows the charges for managing the account and the investments and what effect they could have on the account's value. The charges themselves are covered on Quilter pension charges, and pension charges generally explains how a small yearly percentage compounds over decades.

Third is the adviser. The CRA is built around a financial adviser, and its key features say the account is unlikely to suit anyone without one who is uncomfortable choosing investments unaided. If an adviser also uses a discretionary investment manager, the key features say that manager is likely to charge a fee as well, taken from the account where appropriate until you stop using the service.

Quilter also offers smoothed funds through the CRA, which change how the value moves. Its guide to the smoothed funds says a smoothed fund "aims to reduce the size of the day-to-day fluctuations to the fund value, but it does not provide any guarantees", and that smoothing could reduce returns in rising markets and reduce losses in falling ones. The guide says these funds are available only if your adviser has recommended them. Whether a smoothed fund suits a given pension is a question for the person advising on it.

How should you read past performance figures?

The WealthSelect factsheet carries this warning: "The performance figures shown refer to past performance. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance." A strong run of years does not promise another, and a weak year does not mean the fund is poor. Quilter's CRA key features add the plain version for the account as a whole: its value "can go down as well as up and you may not get back the original amount invested".

When you compare figures, check the same things each time:

  • the date the factsheet is "as at", since months matter in a falling or rising market;
  • the periods shown, because a short period and the whole life of a fund can tell different stories;
  • whether charges are already deducted (the example above says so; check each document you read);
  • what the comparator is, since a fund can beat one benchmark and trail another;
  • whether the figures are for a model portfolio. The example factsheet says its figures rest on a model held on Quilter's platform and "may differ on other platforms", and your own return can differ from a model's.

Simulated figures need extra care. Quilter's smoothed funds guide labels one example as "simulated past performance" and applies the same warning to it, so an example run over years before the funds were launched is an illustration, not a record. Are Quilter pensions any good?

Whether a Quilter pension is good for you depends on the funds in it, what you pay, how long you stay invested and what you need the money to do, so no ranking can answer it for everyone. Reviews and press comments record other people's experiences or opinions, and none of them reports what your own pot returned. Quilter's own documents are the place to check what the account does; its personal pension is described on Quilter personal pension key features. As for reviews, an adviser can talk through what matters to you after you submit the form.

For comparison across providers, how to choose a pension provider sets out what to weigh, and the performance pages for Aegon and PensionBee show how those firms present theirs.

Quilter fund figures and your pension: queries answered

How do I see how my Quilter pension is performing?

Look at your latest statement or online valuation for what the pot is worth, and the factsheets for the funds you hold for how each has done. Your adviser can also walk through both with you.

Can I get a Quilter pension performance graph?

The WealthSelect factsheet above includes a chart of cumulative performance since launch beside its comparator, and the Fund Centre carries performance figures and factsheets for Quilter's Wealth ranges. A graph shows the past only and carries the same warning as the figures.

Is there one Quilter pension fund performance figure?

No, because the CRA holds whichever funds were chosen. Each fund has its own figures and dates.

Can I get a refund on a Quilter pension?

Quilter's key features say you have 30 days from receiving its acceptance documents to change your mind and cancel an application to transfer in or set up the account. After that, moving to another registered scheme is a transfer; see how to transfer a pension.

Do charges affect Quilter pension returns?

Yes, they come out of the money invested, which is why returns quoted "net of fees" and those before charges are not the same. See Quilter pension charges for the detail.
